Salineras (salt evaporation ponds) in Maras, Peru. Salt has been harvested in Maras since the time of the Inca Empire. The site has around 3000 ponds of 5 square metres (54 sq ft) each. As the location is surrounded by salty mountains, subterrean water deposits the salty water in the ponds; the water evaporates due to the exposure to the sun. After approx. 1 month the level of salt reaches 10 centimetres (3.9 in) and is removed in sacks.

Panoramic view of Chuquicamata, a state-owned copper mine located at 2,850 metres (9,350 ft) above sea level just outside Calama, north of Chile. It is by excavated volume the largest open pit copper mine in the world. The huge hole was started in 1882 as a mine to extract gold and copper. It is 4.5 kilometres (2.8 mi) long, 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) wide and with a depth of 850 metres (2,790 ft) it is the second deepest open-pit mine in the world (after Bingham Canyon Mine in Utah, USA). Note: to get a feeling of the scale spot out a haul truck, which is 9.5 metres (31 ft) long and 4.5 metres (15 ft) high.

The geoglyphs of this UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1994) are spread over a 80 km (50 mi) plateau between the towns of Nazca and Palpa and are, according to some studies, between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D. old.

The Hill of Crosses is a site of pilgrimage near Šiauliai, in the north of Lithuania. It is believed that the first crosses were placed after the November Uprising, in the first half of the 19th century. According to an estimation the amount of crosses and crucifixes reached 100,000 back in 2006.

The most popular wine grape variety is grenache and the production of the area in 2013 was of 57 mill litres, 75% of them were exported.

Bas-reliefs of palace guards at the monumental stairs of the Apadana in Persepolis, today Iran. The Apadana was the largest building on the Terrace at Persepolis and was most likely the main hall of the kings. The reliefs of the stairs show delegates of the 23 subject nations of the Persian Empire paying tribute to Darius I along with the here depicted guards. These reliefs are very valuable since the great detail of various of the delegates give insight into the costume and equipment of the various peoples of Persia in the 5th century BC.

The building hosts a casino, the Grand Théâtre de Monte Carlo and the office of Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. The construction followed the plans of Parisian architect Gobineau de la Bretonnerie and took 7 years to complete until it was inagurated in 1853. The casino is owned and operated by a public company, controlled by the government and ruling family, that also owns the principal hotels, sports clubs and restaurants, but does not allow the entrance to Monaco citizens.

The Warrior on a Horse statue is one of the main symbols of the [[:en:Skopje 2014|Skopje 2014]] project and is located in the center of [[:en:Macedonia Square, Skopje|Macedonia Square]] in [[:en:Skopje|Skopje]], capital of the [[:en:Republic of Macedonia|Republic of Macedonia]]. Although it is not officially named for him, it is typically thought to depict [[:en:Alexander the Great|Alexander the Great]]. The statue was sculpted by Valentina Stefanovska and completed on September 8, 2011 to commemorate 20 years of the [[:en:History of the Republic of Macedonia|independence of the Republic of Macedonia]]. The bronze sculpture is 14.5 m tall and it sits on a cylindrical column, which itself is 10 m in height. The column consists of three large ivory sections containing reliefs, each separated by a thinner bronze ring. Each section contains reliefs. The column stands in a fountain and at the base of the column there are 8 bronze soldiers, each 3 m tall and 8 bronze lions, each 2.5 m tall.

Yaksha (mysthical demon) "lifting" the southern of the Two Golden Phra Chedis (or pagodas) located on the Phaithee terrace in the Wat Phra Kaew (or Temple of the Emerald Buddha) in Bangkok, Thailand. The chedis were constructed by order of King Rama I in honor of his father (southern pagoda) and mother (northern pagoda) at the end of the 18th century. The structures are entirely covered with copper sheets, painted with lacquer and covered with gold leaf. The 20 demons and monkeys around the base were added later, at the end of the 19th century, by order of King Rama V.

The locomotives have engines EMD GR12 2402, Clyde GL26C-2 2010 and Clyde GL26C-2 2005 whereas the Carcote salt flat has a surface of 108 square kilometers (42 sq mi).

Albert Memorial, Kensington Gardens, London, England. It was commissioned by Queen Victoria in memory of her beloved husband Prince Albert, who died in 1861. Designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the Gothic Revival style, it takes the form of an ornate canopy or pavilion 176 feet (54 m) tall, in the style of a Gothic ciborium over the high altar of a church, sheltering a statue of the prince facing south. It took over ten years to complete and was opened in July 1872 by Queen Victoria, with the statue of Albert ceremonially "seated" in 1876.
